Online casino use in Canada could rise after officials launched a crackdown on illegal gambling in Starr County, Texas.Around 300 slot machines have been seized from various locations across the area in addition to $75,000 in the last six months, according to officials.Arturo Lopez saw eight or nine slot machines in the back of his convenience stores taken, losing him around $6,000-$7,000, reports themonitor.com. The crackdown could lead to more people turning to online casinos, however.Victor Canales Jnr, the county attorney, told the news provider that slot machines – also known as eight-liners – have been a problem for a long while.”Weve been dealing with eight-liners in Starr County for the last nine to ten years,” he explained. “It always remained in a relatively small scale.”Elsewhere, the US State of Illinois has recently opened its tenth casino to try to increase gambling revenues in the area.
