Matt “ADZ124″ Marafioti Secures $89k Win

Matt Marafioti, an up and coming online high stakes poker player better known as ADZ124, was running extremely on hot on PokerStars a few nights ago to win $89k. He earned his victory over the course of 1,545 hands of NLHE at the $25/ $50 stake level.

Marafioti, a native of Toronto, is now positive by over $200k for 2011, largely due to a massive upswing that began earlier in the week.

Though Marafioti has yet to make the same impression on the online scene as major pros such as Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen and Patrik Antonius, he has carved out a niche of his own. Marafioti first gained international notoriety when he accepted a wild prop bet from Tom Dwan during the 2009 WSOP Main Event. In order to win the bet, Marafioti had to drink 10 shots of tequila in 15 minutes. Marafioti succeeded, but ultimately ended up so drunk that he had to leave the tables for the evening after receiving a penalty for swearing.

Marafioti, who even has his own controversial reality show, usually keeps his base of operations around the $25 / $50 level, though he occasionally dabbles in the $200 / $400 tables as well. Hes better known as a live tournament player, making final tables at the PCA, NAPT and WSOP to earn roughly $1.5 million over his career.

However, the biggest winner on PokerStars was not Marafioti but ZInsenamnn, who earned $137k. Full Tilts high stakes tables were somewhat quieter, but that didnt stop Seb86 (up $71k) and slipped away (up $74k) from rising to the top. XWINK also managed to continue his upswing with a $41k win.

The biggest loser of the evening was AltiF, who lost $89k at the high stakes tables on poker stars. Patrik Antonius also experienced a poor evening in the form of a $72k loss.
