Online poker tech ‘can allow in-play betting’
New technology has been developed which may soon allow online poker sites to let users bet along with live events.Winmedia Ireland is one of the worlds leading poker TV production firms, and it has now acquired Radio Frequency Card Identification (RFID) technology that will enable live poker events to be streamed over the web in real time. This means that online poker players can follow events as they happen, and opens up the possibility that they will be able to bet-in play on the flops, odds and chip counts. The matches can then be replayed in full to allow online poker players to watch the tactics used by the professionals in detail.Winmedia boss Ian Langstaff said that as well as in-play betting providing gaming opportunities from the deal, being able to re-watch games could be an invaluable experience for people learning online poker skills.By showing the hole cards later clients can gain more player information for the future and as a bonus the second stream keeps viewers online for an extra hour as they will all want to see exactly what happened, he added.
